Directors Through the Years: 11 Years of The Lift

A great director is the focal point for any project we work on. We’ve had the tremendous pleasure of working with many legends over the years, and fostering a director roster of our own that manages to command and convey the most beautiful creativity on the many projects that come our way.

While we could write a post alone on every director we’ve worked with (and we will continue to spotlight many in our ongoing Spot On series), we wanted to take a moment to share spots from several names that might be familiar to you, to relive some of our most prestigious spots from top directors.

Stacy Wall is among the most iconic in the advertising industry, starting as a Copywriter/Creative Director at Wieden+Kennedy before taking a turn behind the camera to direct incredibly moving spots for the likes of Nike, ESPN, Adidas, Volkswagen, Samsung, and in Mexico here, for HSBC (above).

Andre Stringer is a director with a definitively artistic approach. His commercials have been lauded for their cinematic quality, which is exactly the kind of skill he brought to bear when we worked with the multi-talented Andre on Under Armour’s “I Will.” His other notable projects include spots for Sony, HBO, Nike, Mini, and AT&T, to throw out just a few global brands.

Martin de Thurah’s music video for Robyn and Royksopp is one of our most memorable shoots to date. The director never fails to amaze us with his diverse body of work, including that particularly notable Under Armour campaign with Michael Phelps from earlier this year, just ahead of the famed swimmer’s final Olympic games.

Joe Pytka is such a legend, we wrote an entire post on how much of a legend he is. If the biggest commercials, including scores of Super Bowl spots, aren’t enough for you, the man directed Space Jam. He also was in Mexico earlier this year to direct this one for Chubb.
