ALL, THE MEXICO WE LOVE, THE WORK WE LOVE, THE INDUSTRY WE LOVE

Congratulations to Our Friend Faride Schroeder!

The Lift would like to give a congratulatory shoutout to our friend, the super talented Faride Schroeder

Faride is a Mexican writer and director who has received national and international attention for her filmmaking. Most recently, Faride won the top prize at the international 2020 Nespresso Talent Competition for her short film Oasis. Faride’s film beautifully captures the circle of life during the global health crisis, focusing on the hope born with every new life that comes into this earth.

Oasis was one of over 700 shorts submitted to the annual competition, which had applicants representing over 47 countries. This year’s theme, Virtuous Circles, called for vertically shot stories illustrating how one good deed can change something for the better, and even become a catalyst for something bigger than the action itself. The Nespresso Talent Competition, which is run by Genero, awarded Faride’s film with the first place prize “for its brilliant sensitivity towards this year’s theme.”

Beauty and sensitivity are common elements found in Faride’s work, whether she is directing commercial projects or personal stories. Faride has worked on many campaigns with our ally company, Voces Imaginarias, including spots for Google, Televisa, and Chevrolet. You can check out the various spots here.

Faride is also an ambassador here in Mexico for Free the Work, a wonderful initiative that focuses on improving gender equality within our industry by creating more professional opportunities for women. Alma Har’el, another talented, award-winning director who is also the founder of Free the Work said that watching Oasis brought her to tears. “It’s stunning! This short is phenomenal and so beautifully shot, directed, and edited.”

We love to see the work made by our talented friends recognized here in Mexico, and on the international stage. Congratulations Faride – we can’t wait to see what you make next!
