We welcomed back Arts & Sciences’ Matt Aselton to shoot this month, in our second project with the director.

Earlier this year, the director’s spot for Samsung landed on just about every media outlet you can imagine. Featuring cameos from William H. Macy, Doc Rivers, Lil Wayne, and James Harden, the spot asks the question ‘why?’ “Why can’t my battery last long enough to navigate me through these scary woods?” Or as Snipes asks, “why can’t my phone have enough memory to hold all 145 of my movies — like that one with the action and the martial arts?”

Over the years, Matt has directed for the likes of Verizon, NBA, Netflix, and Playstation, among others, shooting celebrities from William H. Macy to Derek Jeter. T Magazine interviewed the Los Angeles-based director shortly after the release of his first film, Gigantic, staring Paul Dano, Zooey Deschanel, and John Goodman back in 2009. Among many fun anecdotes from that interview are the director’s love of Mass MOCA, movies based in LA, and the Yucatan.
