Gabe Ibáñez is a powerhouse filmmaker and one of the incredibly additions to our own roster here at The Lift.
Born in Madrid, Gabe studied Image Sciences at the Complutense University where he established Extipo, an association founded with the purpose of developing computer generated imagery. From there, he began an illustrious career in digital post production as a 3D artist and visual effects supervisor in film and advertising. In 2000, he started directing commercials for notable brands like Toyota, Vodafone, and Loteria.
Incorporating visually arresting narratives into all of his work, in 2006, Gabe directed his first short film, Máquina, followed by his first feature two years later, Hierro, which was an official selection of International Critic’s Week at the Cannes Film Festival. Just last year, he premiered his second feature film, Autómata, starring Antonio Banderas and set in a futuristic world forced to reckon with the concepts of humanity versus robot.
