In Volkswagen’s latest spot centered around their electric microbus, the car brand brings audiences back to a less than favorable moment of their past to highlight an exciting and innovative future.

“Hello Light” comes from two of our friends and frequent collaborators: Somesuch, producer Saul Germaine, and director Daniel Wolfe. Working with them on projects of all kinds is always an experience to remember, and the spot for VW certainly speaks to their imaginative minds.

Set to Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence”, the spot begins in the wake of the 2015 VW emissions-cheating scandal before diving into a story of triumph as a VW employee works tirelessly to find a positive spin on such a negative outcome. The end result? An electric version of the classic VW microbus. Watch the spot below!
