If we’ve learned anything from our numerous collaborations with Martin de Thurah, it’s that he has a true penchant for crafting epic spots.
From the lively films for StubHub that brought an apocalyptic spin to the city to the timeless Audi project, it’s always a blast to work with the director who brings his creative eye to every shot.
The recent spot he directed for Chase is no exception. Centered around tennis champion Serena Williams as she prepares to play in the U.S. Open—one of her first major tournaments since giving birth to her daughter last year—the spot captures the champion’s true dedication on and off the court. “Mama Said Knock You Out” begins with shots of the athlete cradling her daughter before heading the court, where Williams recites the lyrics to LL Cool J’s hit of the same name. It’s a spot that is very Martin de Thurah: inspiring, artful, and powerful.
