Chances are if you have visited us and you’ve seen the latest from the Bond franchise, you were in for some familiar territory.
For the shoot of Spectre, the production team closed down Mexico’s city center for a whole ten days. For a city constantly busied with legendary traffic, you might say we weren’t all that thrilled at the time, but to see the Zocalo on the big screen packed with all the action adventure we’ve come to expect from 007 is maybe worth it.
To honor our city in all its cinematic glory, The Guardian compiled a list of DF locations as featured in film. We’re sharing it as our latest location guide, but read the full story here.
Gran Hotel de la Ciudad de Mexico made its appearance in License to Kill and Spectre, conveniently named “Isthmus City” in the former Timothy Dalton star. According to the article, it’s the only time a building has been featured in two separate Bond movies.
The Oficina Central de Correos was similarly in License to Kill, and a fine point of local architecture, with a marble and gold vault to ensure your mail is treated in the classiest fashion.
Moving on from the Bond films, the Guardian sets your compass for choice locations in Amores Perros, Man on Fire, Elysium, Original Sin, and Mozart in the Jungle. Or if you want to skip towards the most picturesque, start with the last which will take you to the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
