An expansive Mayan city located in Chiapas, Palenque is a stunning historical excavation, beautifully preserved to show some of the best architecture, sculptures and city structures of the Mayan civilization. It’s estimated that these structures date back to the first century CE, and are filled with iconography and texts telling a rich history of the territory and its many rulers.
