Picture a Mayan ruin in the form of a cave peering down into an open water, sunlit abyss. That might begin to describe a cenote, one of the many natural wonders that we have within a short drive from The Lift HQ in Mexico City.

We took off to the cenotes to shoot our latest campaign for CPTM and can attest to its incredible beauty and wonder – perfect for capturing an adventurous expedition or a fantastical paradise. Imagine water so clear you can see to the bottom. Their history is deep and can be felt when you jump into the warm waters (after all, the cenotes are said to have been the places of ancient Mayan sacrifice, though we cannot confirm or deny), and they have underwater rivers that connect each other throughout the Yucatán Peninsula, making for one incredibly intricate, beautiful maze.

Is there anything quite like it stateside, you ask? While there’s a few sparse cenotes located in Arizona and New Mexico, but if you’re going to take the trek down there, you might be asking yourself, “why not just go full speed ahead and book that ticket to Mexico?” We’re asking you the same thing.
