Ciclope Berlin has come and gone, and we’re still buzzing from the excitement that filled the lively two days.
Ciclope’s 10th edition was bustling with crowds of industry leaders day in and day out, bringing together nearly 800 producers, creatives, marketers, and directors from around the world. Before the award ceremony, we enjoyed countless discussions and panels surrounding the art of film craft within advertising, hearing from the likes of Ian Pons Jewell, Sheila Johansson, Miles Jay, Academy award nominated cinematographer Ellen Kuras, Mike Byrne (Global CCO, Anomaly), David Kolbusz (CCO, Droga5), David Rolfe (EVP, Director of Integrated Production at BBDO), Traktor, and many more.
There was no shortage of astounding pieces of work to celebrate during the award ceremony. More than 100 entries were awarded across the board, with six spots snagging a Grand Prix: “The New York Times – The truth is worth it: Perseverance” (directed by Martin + Lindsay, produced by Furlined, created by Droga5, edited by Final Cut, and sound by Wave Studios), “The National – I am Easy To Find” (directed by Mike Mills, produced by MJZ USA, edited by Aaron Beckum, visual effects by MPC), “The New York Times – The Truth Is Worth It: Fearlessness (ISIS)” (directed by Martin + Lindsay, produced by Furlined, created by Droga5, edited by Final Cut, and sound by Wave Studios), “HECATE – What Happened?” (directed by Yukihiro Shoda, produced by CONNECTION + Soda!Communications, created by Cherry + ADK), “Essity – Viva La Vulva” (directed by Kim Gehrig, produced by Somesuch, created by AMV BBDO, edited by Trim Editing, and sound by Soundtree Music), “The Walking Fish” (directed by Thessa Meijer, produced by HALAL, visual effects by De Grot and music by Hummingbird Music).
We had the pleasure of presenting Production Company of the Year to our friends at Somesuch, and many other collaborators took to the stage to claim the honors. Director of the Year was awarded to Kim Gehrig, Le Cube was named Animation Company of the Year, MPC snagged Visual Effects Company of the Year, Editing Company of the Year went to Work Editorial, Wave Studios was awarded Sound Company of the Year, Soundtree Music claimed Music Company of the Year, and Droga5 was named Agency of the Year.
Congratulations to everyone! Be sure to watch the highlights in the film above and stay tuned for what’s next from Ciclope!
