Uncovering ancestry with Bullitt’s Diego Contreras for 23andMe

Diego Contreras’ third project with us at The Lift helps you find your roots, no matter where in the world that takes you.

We were excited to welcome back the Bullitt director to Mexico, after two fantastic projects with him over the past year or so. This time, with creative out of Venables Bell & Partners, we traveled to Veracruz, Mexico to stage locations all over the world like Southeast Asia, The Middle East, West Africa and Scandinavia. The resulting campaign pays tribute to the multi-ethnic background of so many individuals who choose to use 23andMe’s services.

For some context, 23andMe is a genomics company that uses consumer’s saliva to generate a genotype report that provides information on their ancestral background as well as predispositions to certain traits. In this new Golden23 campaign, 23andMe is offering 23 lucky winners the chance to explore the world based on their own DNA reports.

What better way to promote that adventurous journey of self-discovery than with this exceptional spot from Diego? The woman featured receives her genotype and travels to areas far and wide to explore her roots. While terrains vary from urban landscapes to glacial paradises, the entire ad was in fact shot in Veracruz, which offers not only topographical diversity, but a huge array of casting options that lent incredible authenticity to the spot.
