ALL, THE MEXICO WE LOVE, THE WORK WE LOVE

Spot On: Skunk’s Saman Kesh

If you’re looking to be excited by the work of Skunk’s Saman Kesh, look no further than the introductory quote on his website.

“Saman Kesh murders robots, abuses musicians, bribes judges, tricks celebrities, and also wears a pink fanny pack,” or so says “An Unhappy Client.”

It’s that same general irreverent sentiment that makes Kesh’s work so captivating and watchable. He has directed music videos for the likes of !!!, Calvin Harris, Ed Sheeran, Basement Jaxx, and Kygo, and even collaborated with American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis on a short film series for Placebo, a British alt rock band. His commercials include a Super Bowl spot for Taco Bell and a digital campaign for Visa called “Samba of the World” that aired during the FIFA World Cup.

His work has been recognized at SXSW, in the Saatchi & Saatchi Director Showcase, YouTube Music Awards, and his narrative short Controller (featured above) landed him in the number two spot on Deadline’s 2013 ViewFinder’s list. He’s adapting that same sci-fi short into a feature for 20th Century Fox, amongst other projects he has in development.

He’s a talented young director with the busy schedule to prove it. Most recently, he’s joining us in Mexico City for a project in collaboration with Skunk. More on that as we can share! In the meantime, check out more about Saman Kesh here.
