ALL, NEWS, THE MEXICO WE LOVE, THE WORK WE LOVE

Surprising will.i.am 100 Meters in the Air for Corona

We suspended a band from the sky. Against a skyscraper. In front of will.i.am. And yes, there were pyrotechnics.

With our friends at Anomaly and Sequoia Content and director Mathias Hovgaard, we launched our latest spot centered around Corona Capital Music Festival, which hits Mexico this November. Boasting artists ranging from Muse to Calvin Harris to Fatboy Slim to Pixies to Ratatat, the two-day festival is held at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City.

To get the hype around the festival started in the right way, Corona enlisted master director Mathias, along with music sensation will.i.am for a remarkable spot that had us scaling buildings with Los Blenders, a local band described by MTV as garage/surf rock/bubblegum pop.

How did we accomplish this, you ask? A totally expert crew rocked out the rig of a lifetime over the course of 15 days, to make a risky-looking situation entirely safe and comfortable for everyone involved, from A-list celebrities (looking at you will.i.am), to crew members, to your friendly production experts here at The Lift. Check out the above making-of video to see the incredible crew at work.

Working closely with Anomaly as well as Canadian production company Sequoia Content, we defied gravity for one of our favorite summertime beers. Slice the lime, pop open the Corona, and flip through our behind-the-scenes gallery below. We’ll see you this November in Mexico City for Corona Capital!
